Wolfe's First Days in Spain

Wolfe's First Days in Spain

Wolfe did pretty well during the long journey to Spain.  We were not the people with the baby that wouldn't stop crying- that was the couple across from us with a toddler!  Lufthansa seated us in a bulkhead row and they attached a travel bassinet to the wall, but Wolfe mainly wanted to be held and not be in the bassinet although he did sleep in it for part of the time.  The main thing that kept him under control was being able to hold him and let him breastfeed when he got fussy.  Eating was pretty challenging on the plane there really isn't enough room to have a tray down with Wolfe in your lap so we had to stack trays and switch on and off.  Changing Wolfe was also hard in those tiny bathrooms especially when we had turbulence.  We arrived in Madrid around 4pm, picked up the car and headed to Toledo.

The next day was pretTy short, we got up late around noon or after and pretty much got ready and headed into Madrid for the bullfight.  The bullfight was pretty cool but not much space for Wolfe, the seating was just on rows of stone with everyone packed in and your legs touching for person in front of you.  If you've never gone to a bullfight it's quite an experience.  The skill of the matador is something to see, but the cards are stacked against the bulls and you can't help but feel sad for the bulls as they are hurt and weakened and spewing blood before the matador even gets to them.  One thing I noticed about the event that was very different than in the US most people were not drinking or eating during the event which was different than most sporting events here.  By the time we got back everyone was pretty exhausted, we stopped at the grocery store, cooked some frozen pizza for dinner and crashed.

The next day we spent exploring Toledo, a really cool midieval city.  We did the river walk, toured the Catedral, and checked out the Alhambra, a big fort on the top of the hill.    We ended the day up at the cafeteria in the library which is in the Alhambra and has great views of Toledo, which we learned from a local tip from our host Nico.

I discovered we forgot the cable to download pics from the camera, so blog photos will be pretty minimal until we get back.
