Darwin Days
Well Dar is like seven and a half months and he's changed a ton. He recently started crawling, for a while he could only crawl backwards which was super frustrating for him and then he would get up on his hands and feet in a downward dog position but couldn't quite figure out how to go forward and then one day it clicked and now he crawls all over. He's good at crawling and sitting and then crawling some more. He is also super curious about everything and picks up and bangs his toys around. He also went from soft cooing and ga ga ga noises to a battle cry as he pounces on Mom and Dad trying to chew your face.
We all got sick this past week and being sick is no fun in general, but it seems whatever these bugs are that he picks up in daycare are quite bad. First he had an eye infection, then I got really sick- like sinuses and ears full of glue congestion and losing my voice. Then Dar got sick, fever, snotty nose, hoarse voice, wasn't sleeping well. Took him to the doc and he's got an ear infection, on top of his cold so he's on antibiotics which gives him diarrhea and I'm still sick as a dog but also on antibiotics for a sinus infection. But yeah the being sick really sucks and then trying to take care of him when we're both sick is really hard, luckily Kurt held out and didn't get super sick like the rest of us. My whole adult life I only remember being really sick like this once or twice, must be getting exposed to some bad stuff, hopefully this sick cadence improves. Since starting daycare me and Dar have both been low level sick kind of continuously and then about once a month a really bad sickness that puts us completely out of commission for a week. Curing the cold and flu would really be huge, I never thought it was that big of a deal to get sick a couple times a year, but now with kids it's a different story, the getting sick is much more frequent and much worse and I can see the economic impact is huge as is the quality of life factor.
Anyhoo, What else? Dar starting eating some more complex dinners- turkey apple, vegetable chicken. He still really likes fruit- the mangos, blueberry pear, prunes and sweet potatoes and carrots. He likes his baths and finds kicking vigorously in the water quite fun. He still really likes walks outdoors and we take him in the stroller or bjorn frequently. He's just super interested in everything, he crawls over to the videos and starts pulling them off the shelf and is fascinated with drawer knobs. He crawls over to the desk in the kitchen to play with the knobs. He can also pull himself up and stand when he has something to hold on to. I hear the little guy waking up so guess that's all for now.
