Wolfe's Growing Up
Well Wolfe's almost one years old- he will be at the end of July. He's really changed a lot, he's been growing like a weed and is now 22 lbs and 3 oz. He much more active and really curious about everything. He's no longer content in the living room, he runs around the house (crawls and elephant walks) opening cupboards, pulling out what he can and exploring everything. He loves the bathroom for some reason, and runs in there and pulls bits of toilet paper off the rollor throws his toys and things in the tub. When we found him trying to fish his lion pacifier out of the toilet bowl, we had to be more vigilant making sure the toilet was closed and watching him in the bathroom. He loves to open cupboards and likes to pull out the funnels and play with those or the rolls of packing tape and cloths from the cupboard near the fridge. He really likes bouncing balls and will roll the ball back and forth with you. He's close to walking and pulls himself up on everything and will stand for long amounts of time on his own.
He doesn't like to be fed anymore, he now wants to feed himself. He really likes bananas, strawberries, and cherries. He also likes cheerios, we're working on more veges and have squeeze things of vegetables, but some of them are weird combinations like spinach, avacodo, apple- fruits and vegetables mixed which in theory sounds nutritious but taste wise doesn't always work. He eats all kinds of stuff in daycare- bagels, cheese sandwiches, raviolis, etc.
Dar went on his first camping trip to the Sand Dunes in April when my parents were out here, he did pretty good although had a hard time sleeping in the tent and it was pretty cold. We did a fairly long hike on the other side than the sand dunes and he did good on the hike in the backpack carrier. We had a tarp for him to play on but he didn't really want to stay on the tarp and kept picking up little rocks and sticks and stuff. He was really fascinated with the grommets on the tarp. Grandma and Grandpa were out visiting the Dar.
Dar loves grandma and grandpa and after some contemplation since Darwin has only ever been left without mom and dad for one short night, we decided to ask them to come back out to watch the Dar while we took Sarah to hike the Narrows in Zion. Darwin did great during the week we were gone- I think mom and dad missed Dar more than the other way around!
Mom got Darwin a little pool right before we left and he had fun playing around in it. It was really hot out on the deck so had to keep him in the shade. He was a little tentative, but Sarah was able to lure him in.
Another major milestone- Darwin is sleeping through the night most of the time now. He does wakes up pretty early between 6am and 7am, but a great improvement considering how rough the first six months were. Oh and one more I almost forgot- his first words were Ma Ma! It started out like bot ba but now is clearly a Ma Ma, so much for the Da Da being first that I heard many babies do- smart boy that Darwin figuring out Ma Ma.
