Menorca Pictures
Menorca was my favorite place we visited in Spain- I'm partial to beaches, but I didn't get to soak it in as much as I hoped. After having breast pain that gotten really bad really quickly the first thingwe did when we got to Menorca was take me the doc. I could no longer feed Wolfe on that side and the night before we left for Menorca I couldn't pump either. The doc said I had mastitis and that it would be best for me to go to the hospital to get some IV antibiotics, so even before we got into our house we took me to the hospital. I was expecting maybe a quick course of IV antibiotics and then heading home with oral antibiotics, but after looking at me they said I would need to be admitted and spend the night, by the time we got to the hospital it was already late afternoon, 4ish. I ended up spending the next two nights in the hospital which seemed like an eternity especially when we only had 4 days in Menorca. I was really weak though and in a lot of pain, I couldn't carry Wolfe and could barely wear a shirt. Also since I couldn't feed him on that side I was painfully engorged on top of the infection. I kept asking for pain medicine but the only thing they gave me was essentially iv Tylenol. Improvement was slower than I expected, but after the second night we had to bust me out of there. Being in a hospital in a foreign country was an experience and quite depressing sitting in a little white room when you are on a beautiful island....more on being in a hospital in a foreign country later.
It was great going home after being in the hospital, we had a beautiful house rented in San Bou with a big patio and views of the ocean. I finally showered after like four days and we hit the beach that afternoon. I was still really weak and just laid on the beach with Wolfe. San Bou is a great long beach and this time of year was pretty much empty. We watched the sunset from our patio with some cervesas. I was super happy to be out. The next day we did a world wind tour of the island going to an ancient archeological site, Cala Galdena (another beach), hiked to Cala Mitjana (another beach/cove), and drove north to check out a beach. A great day and the next morning we had to get up at like 5am to begin our long journey back.
