Granada Pictures
Grenada was our second stop on the Spain trip and a really cool city. Grenada is a super dense city with the Alhambra, "The Red One." The Alhambra was constructed in AD 889 and then renovated and rebuilt in mid 13th century by the Moorish emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar. It's now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a beautiful palace and grounds that is a blend of Moorish and Christian architecture.
Grenada was another world wind tour, we hiked up to the Alhambra the first day only to find out tickets were sold out through the end of the month. We sat around feeding Wolfe and looking for ticket options online, although it looked like some were available when we tried to book it didn't work. After talking to information decided to go tour the part we could and got tickets for the next night to the General Life part of the palace. Kind of a bummer that we couldn't tour the Nasrid palace which was the main attraction, but the General life and gardens turned out to be pretty cool we got good views of the palace at night. After touring the part we could we high tailed it back down to town and over to Jardines de Zoraya for dinner and a flamenco show. I thought the show was great, very high energy, kind of a cross between tap dancing and some kind of country stomp set to unique music....if you've never seen Flamenco it's totally worth it.
The next day we made our way up above the city to the old wall and had great views looking down on Grenada. We stopped at a school of some sort and a little fountain to feed Wolfe and take a break before finding our way back down into town through the countryside passing some cave/house dwellings. Back at our apartment we packed up, it was already our last night and we were leaving in the morning. That night we hiked back up to the Alhambra to see the General life at night which was neat. Dad and Sarah played hide and seek in the gardens and I fed Wolfe. The next day after breakfast at the Four Gatos we hiked back to our car checking out the Cathedral on the way and headed to Rhonda our next destination.
