Raven is 5 Months!
The one thing that doesn’t slow down is time, in fact it seems to go by faster the older you get. Raven is already five months old. He started crawling this weekend, at least he went forward a little bit. He’s really good at pivoting and changing directions, but hasn’t totally gotten the fact that crawling require you to be on your knees. He sits with the bottoms of his feet together and kind of rocks over his feet forward and then pushes himself back to a sitting position. He is doing good, but still cries a lot, I think the reflux really bothers him and it seems he may have a stubborn streak. He will just scream and not give up, and for now is still sleeping with me. With his reflux he nurses about every two hours around the clock so I keep him in bed with me so I can get some sleep. He has just started really being interested in toys and objects and will try to put his hands in dinner plates and check out everything. He likes being outside and the bjorn is my only break, dad puts him in the bjorn and that will keep him happy for quite a while. The days seem to slip by, even though I’m not working I just can’t seem to get anything done and when I try to do something it’s so frustrating I usually give up or try to do it when he’s asleep. He doesn’t really nap well, sometimes his naps will only be like two twenty minute naps a day, sometimes he does better but usually just getting a shower in and picking up a little is the most I have time to do. He is making more cooing sounds and is really cute when he’s not crying.
Wolfe is so big, going to be four in July! My baby is growing up too fast. In some ways he’s so grown up I think we forget he’s still a three year old. He loves his magnet blocks and builds all kind of new castles, forts, hospitals, etc. He also loves pretending he has meetings or work to do on the computer, imitating his father, since Kurt has been working from home quite a bit with the corona virus. He likes to pretend he has an engine inside him and revs his engine by standing in place and bending his knees and then will take off running! He likes Wild Kratts, a more sophisticated cartoon show about animals. He likes playing with his sister, but they fight a lot, too much of an age gap and she doesn’t understand that he’s much younger and expects him to act like someone her age and gets mad when he doesn’t.
We took a short camping trip recently with Raven and Wolfe and they did good. Wolfe loves to camp and be outside and Raven did pretty good with a double sleeping bag setup so I could nurse him throughout the night. We spent one night down by Deckers and the second up by Piney Lake outside of Vail, but the road to the lake so closed so we ended up just hiking up a big tent and camping by the side of the road on the short stretch that had views and was open where everyone else was camped.
Well there is probably more to write, but tiredness has overcome me. Click through the slideshow below for more pics from the last 5 months.
